Björkvattnet is among the world’s first wind parks to be developed solely on merchant revenues and without a government support scheme. Windspace worked in close collaboration with local partners and global networks to bring life to the wind park.

The development was kicked off in 2014 as part of a large renewable energy cluster comprising four wind parks totaling ~380 MW, hereunder the Storbrännkullen wind park. Windspace structured and engineered the technical and financial pre-conditions and agreements between all involved parties to enable the grid connection for the cluster to the 400kV network.

The  Björkvattnet project involved 41 local contractors and service providers during the construction that was started in 2019 together with InfraVia Capital Partners, producing the first kWh in 2022. Björkvattnet will produce the equivalent of ~175,000 households yearly consumption.
